How Much?
Lesson Time
I teach one-hour lessons, because in my experience this works best for adults. An hour allows enough time to cover varied material at a comfortable pace.
Practicing
You need to have a piano at your home, or reliable regular access to a piano, perhaps at a university or church. The piano may be acoustic or electronic. If it is electronic, it should have weighted keys (to replicate the weight and playing action of acoustic piano hammer-action keys) and a damper (sustain) pedal.
You need to be able to set aside some time each day to practice. Total practice time per day could be anywhere from 30 minutes to two hours. More practice usually results in faster progress. Many short, concentrated practice sessions are better than fewer long ones. Practicing at the same time daily helps to develop a constructive habit.
Fees
Please note the information below pertains to past teaching in Toronto and is not current.
The fees below are for lessons at my home studio. If you prefer to have lessons in your own home, this may be possible, depending on your location and scheduling, for a slightly higher price that varies with mileage.
